I have been a lot of things like an art director, creative director, painter, poet, investigative journalist, think tank operator, teacher, and publisher to name a few. Ian was Creative Director of The Creative Black Book., Leber Katz Partners, and Random House. I've written and designed dozens of books including Tomorrow and Beyond, The Guide to Extraterrestrials, and The Art of The Brothers Hildebrandt.

I identified my loves, and redirected them towards my passion for teaching. I synthesized all the things that worked in my career and created Ian Summers' Creativity Workshop. Since 1989, thousands of creators who wish to grow, do what they love and prosper have participated in individual and group workshops. In 1994, I developed Heartstorming Adventure Trainings to meet the needs and desires of artists. I have been presenting group videoconferences which allows us to make face-to-face contact anywhere in the world.

Like most of my clients, I am a creator. Recent exhibits include Oxygen 2 Gallery, Minneapolis MN, Transformations Gallery, Amherst MA , Project Blue, Easton PA, Banana Factory, Bethlehem PA, Jac & Company, Easton PA, Keyes Gallery, St. Louis MO, Pfaffman Gallery, NYC, Stewart Leshe Gallery, Milburn NJ and Afferro Gallery, Newark NJ.

testimonials

“Inspiration, focus and motivation. Ian earned my trust and respect the first time I attended one of his talks at Photoplus in NY. I attribute most of my recent development as a photographer and communicator to Ian's guidance. I can rely on interesting and poignant articles each time I visit the Heartstorming blog. Whether it's a discussion about personal creativity, marketing, or numerous other topics, I can always expect to be engaged and inspired. Ian is indispensable part of my career . ”

“I have know Ian for 18 years. After reconnecting with Ian and Heartstorming 3 years ago, I am energized, excited and passionate about my work. Ian helps photographers to grow, create, re-invent and re-invigorate the passion that we all have for this business. Heartstorming has been a deeply moving experience for me, one that I intend to continue. ”
Jim Esposito, Photographer

“Ian completely transformed the direction my life was taking, opening new possibilities and encouraging me to take personal chances to make them become realities. I was happy in medicine, but Ian showed me that there was another dimension to life, that embraced creativity, fun, and exploration. I still love medicine, but my new passions of writing and art would likely be dormant without his inspiration and guidance. If you ever get the chance to meet Ian and benefit from his wisdom, POUNCE! ”
