Maria writes articles and columns for industry publications such as HOW Magazine, Shutterbug and Communication Arts and is the author of Graphic Designer’s and Illustrator’s Guide to Marketing and Promotion and the 5th Edition of Photographer’s Guide to Marketing and Self-Promotion—both published by Allworth Press.

Maria started her business as a creative services consultant and art/photo rep twenty five years ago. She currently teaches her marketing and business classes at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and previously at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Laguna College of Art & Design, Brooks Institute of Photography and Orange Coast College.

Maria has presented professional workshops and seminars for associations including: American Institute of Graphic Arts, American Medical Illustrators, American Society of Media Photographers, American Photographic Artists, The Canadian Association of Professional Image Creators, International Association of Business Communicators, Graphic Artists Guild, Women In Communications and Women in Design.

She has been a speaker at industry conferences including: HOW Design Conference, ICON-Illustration Conference, VICOM, PhotoPlus, PPOF, PPA and Photo Marketing Association.
