Tim Anderson is the former managing editor/publisher of CameraArts magazine and has been a professional photographer for more than 30 years, and is currently Editor-at-Large for Adore Noir, an online ezine.

He is the founding editor of Red Dog News, a bi-weekly, international photo-based e-mail newsletter, and the blog, RedDogNews.com. He recently curated and co-juried, “Color It Red 2012,” a Red Dog News sponsored photography contest.

Recently, Anderson launched Shadow & Light Magazine (shadowandlightmagazine.com), a PDF-based photography publication that showcases portfolios, thoughtful commentary, enlightening articles, and is published every other month.

Whether the finished product is a full body image or an intriguing portrait, the message he attempts to convey is that of simplicity of line and form, light and shadow. He has published, “Poser: a sketchbook of ideas for artists and models,” and the poetry book, “Frame of Mind." More of his work can be seen at timothybanderson.com, and CygnetPress.com.

He has reviewed photography portfolios for a wide variety of organizations, including, but not limited to: Review Santa Fe, World Photography Gala Awards, Louisville Art Association, Vermont Photography Workplace, Photolucida, the International Fine Art Photography Competition, and Review LA, as well as a variety of local and regional review programs. Anderson has also photographed workshops for Elizabeth Opalenik, Lucien Clergue, and Joyce Tenneson.

A mentor for artists, he enjoys working with “newer” artists in an effort to enable them to have more confidence in their work and in themselves. He curates several photo-based exhibits per year in the Albuquerque, NM area.

“Thanks for taking the time to be my mentor for six sessions with the goal to evaluate and improve my photography skills. I found your assignments useful and challenging. Mostly, however, I became aware that any future progress will simply be equivalent to the time I am able to devote to photography. Thanks for helping me along on this path.”
Uwe Schroeter, photographer

“Tim Anderson was the juror for the "Pose and Gesture" exhibition at PhotoPlace Gallery. His discerning eye and enthusiastic response resulted in a terrific exhibition, and his professionalism meant directions were followed and deadlines were met. Tim was a delight to work with.”
Kirsten Hoving, PhotoPlace Gallery

“I met Tim Anderson years ago while we were reviewing at Photo Lucida. Tim is an established photographic reviewer, has a great eye, and is direct, but kind; someone whose comments an artist could trust.”
